Version 12 reinvents the workspace: a refreshed, fully customizable interface with auto-hide menus, a roll-up property window, custom screen layouts and toolbar customization, plus unlimited workspace tabs to work on multiple designs at once and editable grid-ruler guidelines with snapping for precise control. Licensing is now cloud-based: log in with your Melco Cloud account to activate, switch between computers seamlessly, and receive updates straight to your account — no license code to worry about.
Lettering takes a major leap forward: create arched text with one click, type on paths, and edit single or multiple lines with the new Text Box editor where letters adapt proportionally to a user-defined area. Font compensation corrects both distortion and bumping, fonts can be filled with complex fill for large letters (jacket backs), one-click options handle thread trims between letters, between words or at specified locations, and you can even create your own alphabets from a set of individual designs. Before production, the Design Checker evaluates wireframe designs and text in one click — flagging missing tie stitches, very short or long stitches and other common issues before they become sew-out problems.

What does the Editor level include?
The Editor level combines the complete lettering toolset (arched text, Text Box, font compensation, custom alphabets) with professional design editing: wireframe and stitch-level editing, resequencing and density adjustments. Auto-digitizing and the advanced creation tools are reserved for the Vector and Professional levels — and you can upgrade your level at any time.
Does DesignShop V12 work with non-Melco embroidery machines?
Yes. While the OFM format is identical on Melco machines and in the software (no export needed), DesignShop 12 also reads and writes industry-standard formats like DST, EXP, EXP+ and PES, so your designs can run on most commercial embroidery machines.
